Moving All Your Garageband Loops, Instruments, and Settings To a New Computer

One of the things that drives me crazy about setting up a new machine is getting everything set up the way I had it before.

Garageband

Garageband has been one of the worst programs to set up for me, because every time I've looked into moving my loops and instruments over, I always get the 'you just need to re-install your Jam Packs' answer…but I've finally got it down to a few simple steps to make life good again without having to re-install. The Sony Vaio UX-280P Micro PC appears to be a dream come true. Carry your laptop around in your coat pocket. Use it while standing in line or at half time at the kids' soccer games. Wireless Internet pretty much wherever you are with Cingular's Edge network. Sony, where have you been all my life? I HAD to have one of these. Windows Vista in My Future?

Microsoft Windows Vista

Today I installed Windows Vista RC2 on an old HP Pavilion laptop that needed rebuilding. Being the gear magnet I am, I love just about anything technology related that's new. Bam! MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo Arrives!

MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo

So the MacBook Pro with Core 2 Duo is officially out now, on the Apple website. Apple is claiming a 39% speed boost, and offering twice the memory and a FireWire 800 port on the new machines. I've been wondering if these new machines will have that much of a jump in speed from the 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo model I currently have….gonna have to go visit the Mac Store and find out….when they get them, of course.

Pricing starts at $1,999 for the 15" 2.16 GHz model, and $2,499 for the 15" 2.33 GHz model, which are a available today. 17" model is available next week for $2,799.
